Congress, ahead of the Monsoon Session of Assembly commencing next week, came down heavily against the Government and alleged it for inaction on several counts. Pradesh Congress Committee chief Sukhdeo Bhagat termed it a failure on crucial fronts like law and order, human rights and budgetary expenditure.
Addressing a Press conference on Thursday the PCC chief and party MlA from lohardaga said that the entire Opposition would expose the Government inside the House and pressurise it to become accountable.
“The Raghubar Das Government has completed fairly long stay in power but it seems Raghubar Raj is turning into Ravan Raj. Situation of law and order is so bad that no one is feeling safe. How anyone can feel safe when the police are involved in custodial deaths and murder inside the police station,” said Bhagat referring to recent deaths of ‘minor’ Rupesh Swansi at Bundu and police inspector Umesh Kachhap.
He also cited police atrocity against a minor girl at Manika in the police station besides counting on the incidents of murders, loot and snatching taking place in Ranchi to drive home his point. “28 murders have taken place in one month in Ranchi itself. Everyday there are incidents of robbery taking place in broad daylight. The situation has gone for worse from previous year,” added the MlA.
He also rapped the Government for mishandling financial situation and alleged that the Government had not been able to spend any money out of `391 crore coming as the Central plan.
“Only `961 crore could be spent against `8453 crore coming under the Center sponsored schemes and expenditure is also miserable regarding State plan. Amid this the Government is gearing up bring Supplementary budget during the Session which is nothing but a mischief,” said Bhagat. The five-day Monsoon of Assembly is going to start on July 22.
Bhagat also blamed the Government for demeaning the prestige of the Assembly and alleged that it had been overlooked by the civil servants. “I remember during the previous Session Minister CP Singh had announced for Vigilance probe into land scam but the matter is still nowhere. Steps are being taken against the interest of the tribals. Power situation has gone for a toss despite the CM heading the Department,” charged the PCC president.
Sukhdeo Bhagat at the same time questioned in intention of the Government for keeping one ministerial position vacant and charged it for pleasing the ‘turn-coats’ by giving boards and corporations.
