Cong bigwigs discuss organisational issues in Delhi

Published on:

Amid trouble in Punjab the Central leadership of the Congress has summoned Jharkhand Congress president Rajesh Thakur and legislative party leader Alamgir Alam to discuss organisational issues.

Last month the Central leadership had replaced Rameshwar Oraon with Thakur who is slowly expanding his team. As the Congress is the part of the Hemant Soren led JMM-Congress-RJD Government with four Ministers, Central leadership will also discuss the performance of the Government.

Both the leaders are in Delhi and they learnt to have met senior Congress leaders, including State party in-charge RPN Singh. Sources in the Congress said that Central leadership has asked them to overhaul the party organisation from state to grass-root level.

“Senior leaders will be informed about the activities of the party besides performance of the government. Being the part of the government the party will have to ensure that promises we have made during the elections are fulfilled,” said a senior party leader.

The State president has been asked to pick experienced and dedicated workers and leaders for the key organizational responsibilities.

The Central leadership also expects the party to be proactive and an asset for the cause of public good while in the Government. The new president has been asked to take a stand on any issue vis-à-vis the policy and manifesto

of the party. For instance the party had promised a job to a member of each family and till the time the job is given the party had assured they will be given unemployment allowance.

There is clamour in the party to make the 20th point committee functional from state to block level while the new president has already started the ground work.
