Cong aims to build momentum on burning issues

Published on:

Congress, right from the central level, has stepped in to raise important issues in the State which are affecting large section of society. latest in this line is two-day trip of AICC general secretary cum in-charge of the party in Jharkhand RPN Singh who would highlight plight of the locals affected due to rail line closure and also displaced due to Jharia fire from underground coalfields.

“He is slated to visit Dhanbad on Tuesday to meet people over there who have been badly affected due to shut down of Dhanbad-Chakradharpur rail line. Thousands have lost their source of income besides the passengers’ woes. He would also go to Jharia which is badly affected due to underground fire and fear of displacement is looming large over the locals,” said Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary Alok Kumar Dubey after Singh arrived on Monday evening.

During the trip, RPN Singh would be accompanied by State Congress president Sukhdeo Bhagat and Congress legislative Party leader Alamgir Alam. Inputs coming in from the party suggest that the central leadership of the Congress is out to tap every possible issue ahead of the next election.

“These are national level issues and also our State leadership was unable to highlight the cause in an effective manner and in one voice. The party does not want to remain backward in highlighting such issues which can be important both against the State Government as well as the Centre. The trip first of its kind from any central leadership in recent times in Jharkhand is in that direction,” said a senior party leader accompanying Singh.

local leadership of the party is also gleefully welcoming the call taken at the level of AICC which is expected to douse internal differences existing. “It is good that the high command has started looking at Jharkhand. Visits of that kind would smother factionalism and rivalry existing into the party. Message of this kind is important for the party like us having national character,” said a PCC member.

The observation holds some water as the ongoing tussle between the Sukhdeo Bhagat camp and his rivals has gone down a bit in recent times. Two MlAs of the party Irfan Ansari and Manoj Yadav were told to drop their ‘ambitions’ for the sake of organisation.
