Cong, regional parties looted Jkarkhand: CM

Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Sunday accused the Congress party of working hand in glove with regional parties and making Jharkhand a grazing ground for people who looted the State’s mineral reserves. Addressing a rally in Jamua Assembly constituency of Giridih district in the third phase of his Johar Jan Ashirwad Yatra, Das said that for 67 years Congress party’s apathy and vested interest compelled farmers to commit suicide.

“They kept amassing property and left the people of Jharkhand to suffer in penury. But in 2014, the people of Jharkhand voted against dynastic politics and elected a Prime Minister who comes from a humble background and understands the challenges of poverty,” Das said. He added that the double engine Government has provided double benefits to farmers and women in Jharkhand. Farmers have received financial assistance not only from the Centre but also the State, which he said, was one of the major perks of having a “double engine” Government.

Das addressed rallies in Giridih, Koderma and Hazaribag on Sunday as a part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) campaign for the upcoming Assembly Elections in Jharkhand. The tribal State is set to go to polls by the end of this year, and the BJP has set a target of winning at least 65 seats in the 81-member-Assembly here. In 2014, BJP became the first ever party to form a majority Government in Jharkhand since its bifurcation from Bihar in November 2000.

“At least 40 lakh families have got LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) connection under our Government. Farmers, who were helpless earlier, are now receiving financial assistance,” said Das. The State, he said, has spent Rs 3,000 crore on welfare of farmers and is committed to provide all possible support to them in the days to come, he added. “At least 26 lakh farmers have benefited from the various welfare schemes. They will get more benefits under the double engine Government in future,” the Chief Minister said.Highlighting the development works done in Giridih under the incumbent Government, Das said that the State has constructed 1500 Kilometre roads in the districts since being voted to power in December 2014.  “Besides making roads, we also brought electricity to every household in Giridih. Villages are getting street lights and water supply. Soon, 32,000 villages in Jharkhand will get street lights,” said Das.

Addressing a rally in Koderma later in the day, Das said that BJP was the only political party in Jharkhand, while all other parties were actually running family business in the name of politics.
