In a bid to prevent illegal mining in the district, Rachi Deputy Commissioner, Chhavi Ranjan on Thursday directed to conduct raids to prevent illegal mining in Ranchi district.
Ranjan instructed the concerned officials during a meeting of the District Task Force (Mining) Committee here on Thursday. In the meeting Ranchi Rural Superintendent of Police, Ranchi Divisional Forest Officer, Ranchi Additional Collector, Ranchi Sadar Subdivisional Officer, Subdivision Officer Bundu, District Mining Officer, Regional Officer, Jharkhand State Pollution Officer Ranchi and concerned police officer were present.
During the meeting, Ranjan reviewed the action taken in the last one quarter to prevent illegal mining. He gave strict instructions to all officers to investigate illegal mining including pollution around brick kilns and others. Pollution control board officials said that a letter has been written to the department for action on 44 crushers, action will be taken as soon as permission is granted. The DC directed the joint raids to the Electricity Department and the Sales Tax Department, for which Ranchi Dadar Sub-Divisional Officer has been made the Nodal Officer.
During the meeting, Ranjan said that all the zonal officers should coordinate with the concerned station in-charge and conduct joint raids. He said that wherever illegal mining is happening, take strict action against it. He further directed the Rural Superintendent of Police to establish a dedicated team in the control room so that the concerned police station in-charge would be available as soon as possible if needed for raids against illegal mining. The DC said that if the requisite cooperation is not found by any in-charge of the police station, then the concerned CO should inform it in writing.
Ranjan also reviewed the investigation conducted so far for compliance of the guidelines in all illegal mining or lease mining areas in the light of the guidelines issued by the National Green Tribunal.
