Jharkhand Higher Education Conclave expressed its concern over dismal rate of higher education percentage in among Jharkhandis.

In a conclave organised on Thursday All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) eastern and southern regional officer SK Jena said that the drop out percentage of students is more in Jharkhand after matriculation. He said that in such scenario it is important to set up more number of private higher education institutes across the State. State Human Resources Development (HRD) Department Minister Geetashree Oraon felt that migration of students from the State for higher education has resulted to this ‘poor’ status. She said, “We are losing State’s revenue due to this migration. Moreover, there is a need to create more job opportunities for graduates of our State.”

State Higher Education director DN Ojha said that the data is incorrect since national repute higher education institutes like National University of Study and Research in law (NUSRl) and Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra (BIT) are earning good name in intake of local students and showing a successful result of the same.
