Muslims and Hindus of Chando village setting aside their differences on Sunday swept ghaat for Chhath. It was a scene most memorable and heartwarming as just on the evening of immersion of idols of Durga puja last month there had erupted a communal clash here between these two communities in which five auto rickshaws, one tractor and one four wheeler were set afire. Three houses too were burnt down. A holy place was targeted.
In a freak incident not remotely connected to this communal frenzy a man driving the tractor on which were set up idols met with an accident and finally succumbed to the injuries during treatment in the Sadar Hospital which was purely a traffic mishap.
Police had to work too hard here. It first began with restoration of namaz in the mosque. Then police got opened village haat.
Police again got the Chando school functioning and here in lunch recess students of both the communities began to take their mid day meal together.
On Sunday Muslims and Hindus came forward and swept the ghaat together.
Lauding this effort and love of these two communities SP Palamu Indrajeet Mahatha said this joint venture is a proof that both the communities have learnt the value of living together and working together.
