Communal riots have sullied State image: Hemant

Published on:

leader of Opposition in Jharkhand Assembly Hemant Soren on Saturday castigated the State Government and Chief Minister Raghubar Das for the recent communal conflicts during Ramnavmi celebrations and the controversial statements made in this regard.

Notably, tension erupted between the two communities in Hazaribagh and other districts during Ramnavami processions, a festival celebrated with zeal in Jharkhand. Opening verbal blitzkrieg against the Government on the issue, Soren stated that the communal conflicts in Hazaribagh, Bokaro, Chatra and East Singhbhum during the Ramnavami celebrations have presented Jharkhand in a bad light.

“Social harmony has been disrupted in Jharkhand under the present Government. Reports of involvement of BJP MlAs in the riots are as disturbing as the controversial statements made by certain political figures in the Centre. This sends a wrong message about Jharkhand,” stated Soren.

“It is the Government’s responsibility to ensure accord among all,” Soren said, adding that those in power should refrain from making rash comments about sensitive matters.

Blaming negligent administration equally for the riots, Soren said, “In Hazaribagh, police forces remained mute spectators and violence engulfed the city. Does this mean that Government is propagating such outbursts through policeIJ Administrative lacunae were evident in the entire turn of events. The Government should get its hold on law and order system in the State.”

He further added, “Samples of controversial religious songs also reached me which sparked tension during the festival. False speculations have been made for blaming outside influences causing the conflicts, but these assumptions have been proved to be false when investigated. The real cause here needs to be acknowledged.”

Spitting more fire against the Government and Ranchi administration over the fiasco about the tallest and biggest Tricolour atop Pahari Mandir, Hemant termed the entire scenario an attempt to satisfy ulterior goals which backfired. “Defence Minister of the nation unfurled the historic Tricolour, but this symbol of pride has been dishonoured since the very first day. This entire disaster emanated from failed attempt to gain political mileage. The din raised by BJP at the national level regarding the honour of Tricolour cannot be heard here,” said Soren.

The move was technically wrong and ill-thought and a wastage of money to top that, he added. Soren called for action against CM himself along with Ranchi administrative officials and companies involved in erecting the Tricolour atop Pahari Mandir.
