A new history of understanding amity and harmony between the two communities here was scripted here today in Daltonganj when the members of Muslim community organised a welcome cum fruit giving ceremony in honour of the office bearers of the Kendriya Durga Puja maha Samiti and various heads of the puja pandals here.
The script writers of this harmony from the Muslim community were Mumtaz Khan and Azhar Pappu while from the Hindu community it was Durga Johri the president of the Kendriya Durga Puja Maha Samiti.
A tent was pitched near the road at the busiest Chhoumuhan where Muslim men wearing white spotless caps on their heads welcomed the puja samiti members with prominent ‘tilaks’ on their foreheads.
SP Palamu Indrajeet Mahatha was the chief guest but came also for this function SDO N K Gupta and DSP Premnath. The gathering was very impressive.
Mumtaz Khan the man behind this programme said “There is no politics. This is not for any political gain or mileage. It is all for peace and communal harmony. It is a small gesture from the muslim community towards the Hindu community in these pious days of navratra.”
He then said, “Last puja I had visited some puja pandals where with their permission I also contributed which was just a token of appreciation. And today this programme of honouring and giving fruits to the devotees is just a step towards further strengthening the bond between the two communities.”
