The glory of Jharkhand tallest and largest Tricolour, that was pulled down twice after it got damaged by speedy winds, may again come atop Pahari Mandir after being repaired.
Starting the process to get it repaired by a local artisan, Pahari Mandir Viksas Samiti (PMVS) members have also made orders for a new flag, which will take a few more days to reach here. Till then, they will try to fix the repaired flag on the pole.
“We are trying to get it repaired from a local artisan who has assured that he will fix the flag within a day or two….let him do it first, then after looking at it, we will decided whether to put it on or not,” said PMVS Spokesperson Mukesh Agrawal.
“Order for a new flag has already been placed……. but it will take a few more days to prepare such a huge flag, with dimensions of 60 by 90 feet. “Due to financial crunch, order for only one flag has been placed so far,” added Agrawal.
Experts from MECON limited have also been roped in to suggest their expert views towards increasing the life of the flag at such a high point. Engineers of MECON will soon come up with a concrete plan to keep the flag safe and long lasting after making the required changes in the fabric of the flag.
“In the mean time, we have also engaged engineers of MECON limited to find out the ways so that it does not get torn away easily by the speeding wind. They have also been working on it and we expect that they will also come out with some solution to it,” said the Spokesperson.
Prima facie, MECON engineers have observed that flag was getting tattered due to corner stress, which is a common problem in places where flags have been put on such a height, he said.
NaMo Mantra convener and patron of Pahari Mandir Vikas Samiti Sanjay Seth, on the other hand, asserted that one flag has already been dispatched from Mumbai and was likely to reach here within a day or two. “After we complained regarding the problem being faced by us, they have assured us that they will make it durable this time with double stitching the flag,” said Seth.
“One flag is on the way while orders for two more flags have also been placed with the company, added Seth. Meanwhile, the damaged flag is also being tried to get it repaired, so that it could be used as a backup in future,” he added.
Constitutional experts on the other hand, have termed it a violation of Flag Code of India. “This will not be proper as it will be considered to be an insult to the national flag,” said former Advocate General Anil Sinha.
The largest Tricolour in the country atop Ranchi Pahari, was brought down second time on Saturday after it flied high for about a week in a condition that showed disrespect to the sentiments not only to the people of Jharkhand but for the whole nation.
Incidentally, the original flag atop the 293 ft tall pole had been changed just within a week it was unfurled as it got damaged. Also, the replacement that was mounted on the pole till Saturday evening met the similar fate.
