Concerned over the delay in completing the Rs 185.5 crore Tata-Kandra four lane road, Kolhan Commissioner Rakesh Kumar has written to State road construction department seeking explanation on the delay.
Kumar has written the letter to the principal secretary, road construction department following a complaint lodged recently by the local NGO, Jan Kalyan Morcha. The commissioner has said that in this connection a public interest ligitation had been filed with the Jharkhand High Court by the Jan Kalyan Morcha. The road construction department was supposed to provide parking along the four lane, but in absence of the parking the most of the vehicles are lying parked on the road, thus causing congestion on the road. The ambitious 15.3 kilometre long Tata-Kandra four lane linking Jamshedpur to Adityapur industrial area is being set up by executing agency Jharkhand Accelerated Road Development Company limited (JARDCl) at the behest of the State road construction department.
Though over 90 percent work of the mega project is complete, but the work has come to almost a standstill due to mainly encroachment hurdles. As a result of the commuters, including the students and industrial workers have to detour one kilomere for reaching to the Adityapur-Kandra road again. Moreover, the communication of the heavy vehicles like trucks and trailers has also have to drive additional one kilometer for catching up the main road.
About 50,000 people live in Gamharia in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district, and 10 percent of this population, which include school and college students have to negotiate through the existing Adityapur-Kandra road to reach either upto Adityapur industrial units or to the steel city.
