Popular beverage Company Coca-Cola has said that it was working on a number of ways extend its help to Jharkhand students. Public affairs and communications director of the company’s Indian arm, Coca-Cola India, said in a student-centric programme that the company would also extend its help for students of the region seeking internship opportunities.
“The more the world is getting smaller and approachable through Internet and mobile phones, the more we are required to become global as far as preparation to venture into modern world of competition after our degree courses is concerned. This is where I believe a global company like ours can help youth from smaller cities which are turning bigger like Ranchi and other capital cities, by sharing our success stories. This is also a way to pay the society back against what we have received from it in process of becoming so big,” said Kamlesh Kumar Sharma.
Sharma, who hails from Ranchi itself with his education done here only, was in the city on Saturday to share his learning in Coca-Cola at Coca-Cola AIESEC Youth Speak forum with students from a number of engineering and management schools of the city and other parts of the State. He focused on 10 most important lessons that he learnt in his present company in last 10 years.
“Work hard, spread joy and cheer, dream big, share and credit, have courage, be yourself, innovate, give back, go global and get out and play are 10 most important lesions which I have learnt in my ongoing stint in one of the largest beverage companies in the world. All these are associated with the growth of the company that has a history and heritage of little over 130 years,” Sharma said.
He added that the organisation was extending its effort to help schools of Jharkhand through financing for toilets and setting up internet facilities among others. “We are already providing internships to Jharkhand students in our plants and other sites, and willing to extend it up to our optimum capacity in the country,” Sharma added.
He also shared a couple of interesting stories associated with the company, how and where it made mistakes and how it admitted its mistakes with dignity to overcome it. Coming back on Jharkhand, he said that the State preserved one of the best talents in its youth, who could become front-runners in giving the modern world a shape in times to come.
