Coalition tricked people on farm loan waiver: BJP

Published on:

The BJP has termed the coalition Government announcement to waive farmers’ loan upto Rs 50,000 as cheating and fraud with people of the State. State BJP spokesperson and former MLA Kunal Sarangi said that the Government has turned its back from its own promises.

The BJP spokesperson claimed that the Soren government has failed in fulfilling its promises and there are several instances where the government has taken U-turn from its promises. He said that the JMM, Congress alliance in their poll manifesto has announced to waive Rs 2 lakh farm loan but actually they are waiving farm loan upto Rs 50,000 only.

The coalition Government passed a proposal in the Cabinet to waive farm loans of up to Rs 50,000, benefitting around 9 lakh farmers of the State on Thursday, partly fulfilling the promise made by the ruling coalition ahead of the 2019 Assembly elections.

The Government said that an allocation of Rs 2,000 crore has been made in the current financial year for the waiver.

Sarangi also said that the JMM, Congress government had also announced to provide five lakh jobs to youths within six months, but the government now is announcing to provide government jobs to only 15,000 youths.

Meanwhile, in another development, the State BJP unit has hailed and congratulated NDA government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for launching a centrally sponsored post-matric scholarship scheme for the Scheduled Caste students.

State President of BJP SC Morcha and Chandankiyari MLA Amar Kumar Bauri said that through the scheme, more than 4 crore SC including 40 lakh SC students from Jharkhand will be benefited. He said that the Central Government decision providing scholarship to SC students will help in uplift of students from deprived communities.  He said that around Rs 59,000 crores will be spent on the scheme out of which Centre will bear more than Rs 35,000 crores while rest will be borne by the State.
