Ministry of Coal, Govt. of India has conferred the status of Mini Ratna (Category-I) to CMPDI in accordance with the provisions of the Department of Public Enterprise’s (DPE’s) guidelines. Earlier, the status of Mini Ratna (Category-II) was conferred to CMPDIL in 2009. CMPDIL is the third coal company from Jharkhand in receiving this award. The Department of Public Enterpise’s directions provide for grant of enhanced autonomy and delegation of powers to the profit making public sector enterprises (PSEs) as a policy objective, for making the public sector more efficient and competitive.
Award of Mini Ratna status to CMPDI would entail self-sufficiency to incur capital expenditure on new projects, modernization, purchase of equipment, etc.; to establish and enter into joint ventures and strategic alliances to obtain technology and know-how; to structure and implement schemes relating to personnel and human resources management along with Enhancement in Corporate Image.
CMD, CMPDI, Shekhar Saran has expressed happiness over achievement of this special status by CMPDI and said that the special status given to CMPDI was the result of hard labor and cooperation of all employees. He expressed hope that the sincere labour and dedication of its employees will take CMPDI to new heights.
