Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday said that despite Jharkhand having more than 50 per cent of tribal populations, the scheduled tribes and scheduled caste are not getting adequate support from banks and other financial institutions. He was addressing the House during the calling attention motion moved by JMM MLA Deepak Birua in the Assembly that SC/ST communities are getting adequate support from banks.
Chief Minister Soren, replying to the move, said that this is a serious issue. The government will take a decision on this soon. In this matter, the Government has directed the Chief Secretary to find a solution soon.
The Chief Minister said that the government is constantly trying to find out how more and more people of this community get bank loans. Few days back representatives from different banks called on the issue of providing financial assistance from banks to the SC/ST community.
Earlier, during calling attention, JMM MLA Deepak Birua raised the issue of giving home loans to government employees belonging to Scheduled Tribes/Scheduled Castes. The MLA said that there is a provision to give loans to this category of employees only for 5 years, while there is a provision to give loans up to Rs 30 and 15 lakhs in two categories to other categories of government employees for a full 20 years.
Meanwhile, in another development as soon as the proceedings of the House began on the third day of the budget session of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, an incident at Deoghar temple on the day of Mahashivratri was raised by BJP lawmakers. The BJP MLAs raised slogans against the treatment of the ruling party's Congress MLA Amba Prasad at the Deoghar temple. The BJP members said that insulting Amba is an insult to the entire house.
Amba Prasad said that she had gone to Deoghar on Tuesday. “There was chaos in the temple. I called the SDO, but he did not come and asked me to come.” On the issue, the speaker RabindraNath Mahto directed the government to take action in this connection. He said that the mindset of these people has increased.
After the matter was raised in the assembly, to know the reality of MLA Amba Prasad's case, Deoghar Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri ordered an inquiry.
