Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday revived the dhoti-sari scheme for the BPl families, mooted during the Arjun Munda Government by the then Food and Civil Supplies Minister Mathura Mahto of the JMM, and also pledged to make sugar and palm oil available at the shops run under the public distribution system.
Speaking at a function at Singhbhum Sports Association ground here, the Chief Minister said that the State Government was working on the plan to provide dhoti-sari to BPl
families at the rate of Rs10 and sending a proposal to the Centre in this regard.
Sugar, which had been made
available by the then Governor
K Sankaranarayanan at the PDS shops during the President’s rule in 2009 for the first time since creation of Jharkhand in 2000, soon vanished after a popular government came into power.
“We want to strengthen Public Distribution System in the State and want to ensure that the people get the benefits,” the CM said.
The function named Vikas Mela was held as part of the statehood fortnight celebrations. Hemant said that the State Government will also be reviewing the development works being carried by
various mining companies under corporate social responsibility. He also said that people of the region have not developed in proportion to the mineral resources extracted from their region.
Asserting that the Government was firm on undertaking development works, he maintained that the public servants who are really doing work will be rewarded, but the shirkers and corrupt ones will face the music.
The Chief Minister reiterated to provide Rs 10-lakh grant to each panchayat to ensure the progress of the villages. He also said the welfare schemes should keep the common man in focus and that the people too, should keep their eyes open to find out what was right and wrong. He stressed upon timely implementation of all schemes.
He said the Government had ambitious plans to take the State on the fast track of progress. He said the mukhiyas and councillors will be authorised and instructed to keep an eye on proper implementation of government schemes.
He said the Government was all set to ensure welfare of the downtrodden and marginalized sections of the society through the implementation of these projects.
The Chief Minister also handed over appointment letters to 24 persons. During the mela as part of the Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana 261 girls were benefitted, while 315 beneficiaries were benefitted under Mukhyamantri ladli laxmi Yojana.
Hemant further said that the loans were distributed under various ambitious projects of the government and numerous other schemes will help people. He said the government departments were working hard to implement the plans as soon as possible.
“I appeal to the banks to grant easy loans to the rural people so that they can benefit out of it,” said Hemant. He also harped on the inclusive growth of the locals along with industrial progress.
