The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government on Saturday expressed its commitment towards revival of the ‘janta darbar’ with grand vision of taking the concept of interaction, which was hitherto confined to the Chief Minister Secretariat at Ranchi, between policy makers and common man right to the doorstep of the latter. The aim is to bridge the gap between Government and people electing the Government.
While holding first-ever ‘janta darbar-cum- karyakarta darbar’, Chief Minister Raghubar Das shared his Government’s vision of establishing a system to facilitate dialogue between Government and governed to iron out the anomalies in the system and inculcate sense of ownership of the Government of the day among the people of Jharkhand. Das assured to revive the cell at CM Secretariat once he officially enters the CM’s official residence.
“There is no system in Jharkhand so we will develop a system where in party workers and public could become partner. In last 10 to 15 days I have seen people and workers standing outside CM’s house and office to make their voices heard. Janta Darbar will be started at the cell at CM Secretariat. Our effort is to increase public participation in governance,” said Das. The Chief Minister will hold ‘darbar’ for party workers on every Saturday and urged the party workers to inform people about the good works done by the Government.
Das stated that he and his Cabinet will camp in each district to hold public hearings and a public grievance cell similar to that at Ranchi will be established at second capital of Jharkhand, Dumka. However, the CM’s bonhomie will begin only after the Budget Session. The setup in districts will include an office and a nodal officer to compile grievances and issues raised by the people of the district besides oragnising a one-day camp at Dumka in a month to address the problems of the region.
“Right now we have to prepare a complete Budget and table it (in Assembly). After Budget I will go to districts, will stay in villages with entire Government and Ministers so that we can keep ourselves abreast with the problems in each district. A cell will be setup at Dumka and I will seek all files online to look at the problems,” maintained the CM.
On the very first day of the public-cum-workers hearing, the Chief Minister was apprised with corruption in administrative setup, development works stuck for several decades, apathy of administration raised by party workers, common man and legislators of the party.
As many as 130 applications were presented before the CM for seeking his intervention. According to party officials, more than 200 people submitted applications for the hearing that began from 11:45 at the party office with the chant of Sanskrit verses.
During the course of interaction with party workers and public, the Chief Minister was apprised of non-payment of compensation to those affected due to Garhi Water Reservoir project in North Karnpura, no administrative action against the District Superintendent of Education-Sahebganj, assistance to disabled, land disputes, law and order situation, problems of NRHM workers and para-teachers besides, issues of revoking suspension of few Government officials suspended following departmental actions.
