Now confident of running the Government to its full term the JMM-led Government is looking to fire it up for the last moment and also present a unified face. Tops leaders and Cabinet colleagues from Congress, RJD, TMC and host of Independents attended the dinner hosted by CM Hemant Soren for his coalition partners.
Idea behind the amalgamation is manifold. First and foremost is to send out the signal loud and clear that there is no danger on the Government and nor it is in minority as being played out. It would also pacify some of the partners and make them to regroup together for a larger ‘threat’ called the NaMo wave.
“Certainly after such an impressive show the sentiment is with the BJP. We have to improve our functioning and performance in the remaining 4-5 months. As far as Congress is concerned we will stress on adhering to the promises made in Common Minimum Programme launched after the Government formation and also expedite outstanding issues like domicile or sand auctioning,” said Pradesh Congress Committee chief Sukhdeo Bhagat ahead of going for the dinner in the evening.
Reports are the Government is anxious from electoral politics becoming centripetal around development plank which has not been in Jharkhand. The incumbent ruling coalition of JMM-Congress-RJD is likely to be his hard for snail-paced progress all around and policy paralysis on several key matters.
“What we want that not just talks but action is also taken. like how the issues like CNT-SPT Act, domicile etc can be tackled with improved coordination. The Congress believes that amendment in CNT-SPT Act can be done but only after ensuring interests of those for whom the acts were passed. The wellbeing of tribes should be
safeguarded and this would be conveyed to the Chief Minister,” said Bhagat.
Meanwhile all eyes were on the two TMC legislators who as expected attended the dinner. Bandhu Tirkey, unlike the previous stand of the party he joined just before parliamentary polls along with Chamra linda who is enjoying post of chairman of TVNl in the Hemant Soren Government, is blocking any attempt to destabilise it.
“We are going to the dinner. As far as other issues are concerned the party high command would decide. We will have to think what the party would gain from pulling the Government down,” said Tirkey. RJD is already softened after scoring a blank in Jharkhand and par below performance in Bihar and would happily continue backing the Government.
