Chief Minister Raghubar Das alongwith Ministers CP Singh and Neelkant Singh Munda and senior officials on Saturday inspected the work status of Birsa Munda Park, Karamtoli pond including Ranchi lake undergoing restoration under the ‘Ponds rejuvenation Project’ for more than one year now.
The CM came down heavily upon the officials for delaying the projects unnecessarily. Starting his inspection from Birsa Munda Park popularly known as Old Jail Park among the city residents, the CM instructed the officials to speed up the work and ensure completion of project on time.
Being constructed at a whopping cost of Rs. 106 crore covering approximately 34 acres of land, Birsa Munda Park will be opened for city residents in 2019. The CM has asked the officials to submit the daily progress report of the park to him.
Notably, on July 13 evening, the CM had visited the park and had rapped the officials for the delay. The Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation limited (JUIDCO) is developing the park at Jail More taking inspiration from the tribal roots. Further, the CM, during the inspection ordered the officials to develop the park as Children Park with all amenities.
Meanwhile, during the inspection of Karamtoli Pond he rejected the proposal of constructing banquet hall at the pond as a part of beautification process. The CM has asked the officials concerned to make necessary changes in the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Karmatoli Pond at the earliest. The decision has been considered taking into account the issue of catchment area which is getting squeezed up in the process of beautification destroying the natural elements.
According to the sources, nearly Rs 11.40 crore is being spent on the beautification of Karamtoli Pond. JUIDCO in association with Hong-Kong based company – UDP International is restoring the pond. One of the key features of this project is the musical-dancing and colour fountain, being developed at the centre of the pond. Also, a 40-feet-high, watch tower will be built on the bank of the pond.
Underground parking will be constructed on the ground next to the pond, with the capacity of parking over 100 vehicles. Multipurpose hall, cafeteria, conference hall, indoor game, food court will be built up for the visitors. Inside the ‘Watch Tower’ provision of surveillance room, administrative building, and other facilities will be created. Beautification of the Sarna site adjacent to the pond is also on the card and will be developed separately with lighting and plants.
In addition, the CM has instructed the officials to ensure completion of Ranchi lake renovation work in the stimulated tenure without any fuss. Minster, Department of Urban Development, Housing and Planning, CP Singh, Minister, Rural Development Neelkanth Singh Munda including senior officials accompanied the CM during the inspection.
