A momentous development unfolded in the agricultural landscape of Jharkhand as Chief Minister Champai Soren laid the foundation stone for a colossal Rs 356 crore irrigation project in Gajiya Baraj on Thursday. The ambitious project, falling under the water resources section, is poised to revolutionize water access, bringing prosperity to villages and blocks situated along the Kharkai River.

The irrigation scheme, with an estimated cost of Rs 356 crore, has been meticulously designed to cater to the water needs of fields and agricultural areas in the region. Soren, accompanied by key dignitaries, inaugurated the project, marking a significant milestone for the state. The ceremony witnessed the presence of Agriculture Minister Badal, Ichagarh Chief Sita Mahato, Kharsawan MLA Dashrath Gagrai, and several other officials.

The primary objective of the initiative is to provide abundant water throughout the year, bolstering Rabi crop cultivation and addressing the agricultural needs of the area. Chief Minister Soren expressed his optimism, stating that over 12 Panchayats would benefit from this transformative scheme, ensuring access to ample water resources for their agricultural activities.

In a spirited address to the gathered audience, CM Champai Soren underscored the project's significance in strengthening the agricultural capabilities of the region. He criticized the previous government for its alleged failure to implement such vital schemes and assured the public that the new initiative would put an end to forced reclamation of agricultural fields while ensuring a consistent water supply to the region.

Expanding on the project's scope, Soren detailed plans to extend water supply from Chandil Dam to the fields through pipelines. This strategic move aims to guarantee year-round water availability, even in submerged villages, and signifies a monumental leap towards sustainable water management.

In addition to the irrigation project, a new bridge is slated for construction on the Kharkai River, promising enhanced connectivity to various centers. This infrastructural development aligns with the government's commitment to improving accessibility and facilitating economic growth in the region.

Addressing the issue of corporate responsibility, CM Champai Soren stressed the imperative for companies operating in Jharkhand to allocate two percent of their profits for the benefit of local residents. Expressing disappointment over the lack of such contributions despite the state's abundant mineral wealth, he urged companies to fulfill their corporate social responsibility and contribute to the welfare of the community.

In a bid to promote cultural diversity and inclusivity, CM Champai Soren announced the inclusion of languages such as Odiya, Bengali, Ho, Oraon, and Santhal in the primary school curriculum of Jharkhand. This forward-thinking initiative reflects the government's commitment to preserving and promoting linguistic diversity in the state.

As the foundation stone for the irrigation project was laid, Chief Minister Champai Soren's vision for a more prosperous and sustainable agricultural future for Jharkhand took a significant step forward.
