Chief Minister Raghubar Das switched on a 220/132KV grid sub-station and 220KV Dumka-Rupnarayanpur Transmission in Dumka on Thursday that would enable the efforts to ensure uninterrupted and reliable electricity supply to the power-starved region.

All the six districts of the Santhal Pargana division would now get 180 MW. It would be supplemented by 350 MW power after the Pakur grid sub-station get opens on August 15.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM termed the step in the direction of the development of the deprived area. “With the installation of the grid sub-station and transmission line, the Santhal Pargana region would see stream of development coming up and no one can stop this to happen. People want development. We are committed to resolve power shortage in the area in a gradual manner and things would improve further with upcoming Pakur and Madhupur grid sub-stations,” he said.

The CM went on projecting brighter future ahead for Jharkhand with meeting generation target of 2,400 MW by 2019 and 4,000 MW by 2022. “Besides NTPC, power generation would be promoted with another unit of TVNl. Speedy steps are needed in the sector as no attention has been paid to this in last 14 years,” said Das.

The youth of 10 villages of Madanpur sub-station met the CM on the occasion and demanded in electrification of their localities. Raghubar Das assured them that work under the Atal Rural Electrification Scheme would start in a day.

“We all know the problem the State is facing in the field of power but now the situation has changed. Now all the works would be done in a time-bound manner and none of the Department of the Government would be passive to the people’s issue. Politics should also aim for development,” said the CM.

Talking about apathy to Santhal Pargana, the CM narrated his experiences about the acutely poor area marred with mass level migration, lack of industrialisation, and hunger deaths. “I have seen the ruin of Santhal Pargana very closely and before coming to power I had taken oath for its complete facelift,” added he.

Announcing some of the measures for the State, the CM said that on August 15 appointments of 12,000 nutrition friends, later on, of primary teachers, intermediate teachers and also in colleges, doctors and distribution of tablets to girls of KGBV would take place. Under ST Gram Vikas Scheme, complete development work would be done in 4,000 villages.
