CM hits campaign trail in littipara

Fight for the lone Assembly constituency undergoing poll at littipara has intensified with Chief Minister Raghubar Das hitting the campaign trail.

The CM along with some of his Cabinet colleagues held four rallies in favour of BJP candidate Hemlal Murmu on Wednesday.

The public meetings were organised at Amarapara and Gopikandar blocks of the constituency, dominated by tribals with considerable presence of primitive group Paharias. “Two public meetings of the Chief Minister were held in Amarapara and two in Gopikandar blocks. He would further visit the areas such as Hiranpur and littipara during his stay in the next few days,” said BJP legislator from Raj Mahal Anant Kumar Ojha who along with Minister louis Marandi has been made in-charge for the bypoll.

Speaking at Vohra ground of Pakur district, the Chief Minister sounded critical of the policies adopted by the previous regimes and JMM in particular. “The time has come when the parties indulge in misguiding tribal people should be shown their place. The Jharkhandi named parties have cheated you all the time in the name of caste and community. The JMM made littipara as the poorest block of the country. That is the reason why the area having represented by the JMM for so long remained far-far away from development,” said he and added that the BJP within two years of coming into power has transformed Santhal Pargana region.

Understanding the importance of controversial CNT-SPT amendment Bills in the election, the CM justified the act of his Government. “The amendments are being done for the wellbeing of the tribals who are facing poverty even after so long. This would empower you to use your land for your wellbeing,” said the CM, addressing another meeting at Gopikandar. Though, some ruckus was also created over there when few locals waived black flag in protest.

The fleet of BJP leaders also tried to convey similar message to the voters. “I held several Chaupal sabhas with the villagers. It is pathetic to see the state of roads and drinking water in the villages. It seems no developmental work has taken place for last 40-50 years in the area. This thing has to change,” said Welfare Minister louis Marandi. Besides her, other Ministers Randhir Singh and Amar Kumar Bauri would accompany the CM in the constituency till the poll is over. It is learnt that the party would resort to more booth level meetings to be held at grass roots in the form of chaupal and akhara sabhas.
