Chief Minister Hemant Soren today launched 'SAHAY (Sports Action towards Harnessing Aspiration of Youths) from Kolhan Division to polish and nurture sports talents of rural areas of State.

Through scheme, in first phase, 72,000 youths of 14 to 19 years of Naxal-affected districts including Chaibasa, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Khunti, Gumla and Simdega will get an opportunity to show their skills in field of sports.

Talented youth in sports up to Panchayat, Ward, Block and District level will get an opportunity to show their skills in other sports including hockey, football, volleyball and athletics.

The scheme will be operated by the Sports Department. The objective of scheme is to motivate youth of Naxal affected areas towards a positive life by giving them an identity through sports. In competitions organized under scheme, winners and runners-up at district and state level will also be honored by giving incentives.

Speaking on occasion, the CM said that since years some areas of Jharkhand have been affected by Naxalism, but attempts were made to make it frightening by other people, who do not know about tribal, indigenous, language, culture and tradition here.

We have to try to change this picture, to create an atmosphere of smiles in remote forests of Jharkhand. Efforts will be made to create a positive environment in fields, barns, towns, so that no one can woo our youth.

The CM said that sports nurseries would be established in Naxal-affected areas. Work will be done to differentiate these areas. We have made sports a medium, so that Jharkhand's identity can be established apart from minerals.

Now instead of sound of bullets, it will resonate with laughter of players and tourists. The CM said that  people here were not shown way. While there was no dearth of talent among people here, it was not assessed.

Players of Jharkhand are making a splash in field of sports. SAHAY Yojana has been started with the objective of promoting sports further. Sports will be organized at every level. I personally have an eye on the plan. Players are urged to come forward.

The government is with you, he added. The CM also participated in Apke Adhikar, Apki Sarkar, Apke Dwar programme and Mega Assets Distribution programme of Kolhan Division on occasion and assets worth more than 1443 crore were distributed among 5 lakh 34 thousand 752 beneficiaries of West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts. “The youth of Jharkhand can play a big role in taking state forward with dignity. The government will support youth in every way in employment and business. There should be a smile on the face of the coming generation, farmers and workers of Jharkhand.

I believe that villagers have some disappointment towards government system. With aim of eradicating that despair and instilling confidence, the government has come to your door so that needy can be covered by schemes,” said CM. “Public participation is essential to strengthen rural economy.

Today, the officials are reaching remote villages so that problems of villagers can be resolved at their doorsteps.

Other states of country are moving ahead with their tradition and culture. We also have to move fast; otherwise we will be left behind. All of you are requested to come forward and take advantage of schemes,” he added.

The CM said that it is ironic that in 20 years, the identity of the differently abled people could not be established. The government is working to connect all disabled with pension scheme.

In such a situation, all the disabled people will be identified and pension will be given to them.
