Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that delivering rural youth and women of the State qualitative skill development training was a priority of the Government to make them economically self-dependent. “It was also important to provide them trainings in a set time limit so that the results are visible and youths get encouragement,” he said.
The CM holding the first inter-departmental meeting of Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society at his office on Monday said that the skill development programmes should be such that their skills are appreciated not only in the State but are demanded in the nation and international forum.
“Crores of youths want to work but they lack necessary skills. Giving them skills would enable them to seek employment. The Prime Minister’s ‘Make in India’ programme would be successful with everyone’s help. His dream will be fulfilled only when everyone put coordinated efforts to work for skill development in the State,” Das said.
Stressing on the need of a nodal department, the CM said that 17 different departments were working separately for skill development but no concrete result was visible. “Therefore, it was important that a nodal department should be set up and all expenses borne by different departments should be consolidated and need-based training plan is made so that the skilled persons can be employed in State-based companies, industries and departments,” he added.
Das said that there are several technical and industrial houses in the State where technically skilled people are required. “It is seen that many of these institutions train individuals after recruiting them and the recruits could not fully fit in upto the norms,” he said.
The Chief Minister sought information and suggestions from representatives of Public Sector Enterprises present in the meeting so that skill-based training programmes could be made as per the industry needs. HEC, Tata Motors, MECON, BCCl and Forest Department officials gave different suggestions on which the CM asked each institution to find out resource gap and submit representation with the Government.
Dhanbad MP PN Singh, Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Varan Mahto also gave their suggestions in the meeting, which was attended by CS Rajiv Gauba, CM’s Secretary Sunil Barnwal, Development Commissioner RS Poddar, Principal Secretary Planning and Development RS Poddar, Principal Secretary Rural Development Department NN Sinha, Principal Secretary Health and Family Welfare K Vidyasagar, Principal Secretary Science and Technology department l Khiyangte, Secretary HRD Aradhana Patnaik, Secretary Industries Himani Pandey among others.
