Addressing people of the occasion the CM said, “We are the descendants of Dharti Aba Lord Birsa Munda, Sido-Kanhu, Chand-Bhairav. It is in our blood to agitate for water-forest-land and our rights. For the last 30 years, people used to gather on two days of the year on 22nd and 23rd March at Tutwapani More to agitate to get back the land of the firing range. Guruji Shri Shibu Soren actively participated in this movement. Today I got the privilege of taking a decision in favour of the same movement. Now this land will remain with the original residents of this place. The government is going to withdraw all the cases related to this movement.”
Keeping his point regarding the organisation of World Tribal Day, the CM said that it is our misfortune that on the occasion of World Tribal Day, the Prime Minister of the country did not even consider it appropriate to send greetings to the tribal society. In his eyes, we are not tribals but forest dwellers.
On this occasion, the CM observed a two-minute silence to pay homage to the martyrs of the Netarhat Firing Range movement. Along with this, the people of Kendriya Jan Sangharsh Samiti who played the main role in the movement and the families of the martyrs were also honored.
The CM said, "I fully understand the pain of the martyred, harassed and displaced people in the firing range movement. Water, forest and land are everything for us. When the firing range was established in 1965, the villages here were displaced. The displaced had to face many difficulties. Today, till we take back this land and till we do not cultivate it with plow bullocks, our true tribute to the martyrs of this movement will not be complete.”
The CM said that organizing a development fair among the people of Netarhat is our effort to see whether the welfare scheme of the government is reaching among our native, tribal, village people, farmer brother or not. “Today, assets worth crores are being distributed among the beneficiaries and in future also the work of connecting people with public welfare schemes will continue. We are working to bring a smile on the face of every Jharkhandis. Those who have been linked with the schemes have brought a smile on their faces and people are also happy to think that the government is working for our interest,” he added.
The CM further said, “We are working to prepare schemes for the welfare of the people. We celebrated Tribal Festival to honor the tribals. In this, along with the tribal brothers of the state, the tribal brothers of the neighboring states also came. There was an exchange of culture between them. Today text books and clothes were distributed to poor children for reading. People are being benefited by various schemes of the government. Along with this, for the all-round development of this area, the foundation stone of the important schemes of the government and the completed schemes are also being inaugurated.”
