Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Wednesday directed to declare holiday on Sohrai festival on January 12, fulfilling his announcement made on December 30, 2016. The Personnel department also issued a notification in this regard.
Sohrai is an important tribal festival of Jharkhand on worship of nature and simple living. After harvest, people wish happiness to others as well as birds and beasts. In this five-day festival, the brother invites his sister to come to her father’s home with her family. It is a great festival with songs and dance. Das declared holiday on this day so that people can know the culture and tradition of the State.
