Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said that the State will be developed only when the village will be developed and public participation is necessary for this. “If development could only be possible by relying on bureaucracy, the situation of our village would not have been the same. The government has started it with the slogan of ‘ Apna gaon, apna kaam’. Every person in the village will make their contribution in development work,” he said while holding a meeting with Block coordinators under the Panchayati Raj Department here on Friday.

Das said that the government will provide 80 per cent of the funds for the scheme and the villagers will give 20 per cent of the amount in terms of rural labour. This will give them more sense of belonging with the scheme.

The CM directed the Block coordinators of the State to complete the formation of Tribal Development Committees and Village Development Committees till March this year as the implementation of the schemes will start from April.

The CM said that there will be 9 to 11 members in the committee. Women will be selected by the village and only for the post of Secretary and Youth Secretary. The Government will send the amount of small development schemes directly into the account of the committee. The villages will be able to spend this amount by deciding the plan of their village itself. He said that the responsibility of the District Panchayati Raj Officer is also fixed. Along with coordinators, they will also have to fill the tour diary. In the meeting Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma, Development Commissioner Amit Khare, Additional Chief Secretary of Finance Sukhdev Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister Sunil Kumar Barnwal, Secretary of Rural Development Avinash Kumar, Secretary Panchayati Raj Vinay Choubey, Department officials and Block coordinators were present. Meanwhile, the CM also chaired a meeting of Small and Cottage Industries Board here on Friday and said that district and block coordinators have been deputed under the board, who have to work in coordination with village folks and find out the area of interest of the women and poor people. The coordinators have to help them adopt employment opportunities including goat farming, bee keeping, forest produce, articrafts etc.

Das said that there was ample opportunity of bee keeping in nine districts of the State, where honey processing plants would be set up.

Similarly, villagers must be encouraged for lac production in more and more quantity.

For handicraft marketing urban hats and tourist hats would be made. Also, training would be provided to women for making blanket, school uniform and other stuff.
