CM baffled at buffalo autopsy, orders compensation in a day

Published on:

Sir, my buffalo died of electrocution around a year back. I wrote to the DC for compensation against it. But he said that he needed to have a post mortem report of the buffalo. I was left all alone to get it done by my own, and I am having the report of it also, with 55 witness signatures. But I have not been paid compensation yet. Please help me.”

Not only CM Raghubar Das, but every other person present at CM Seedhi Baat programme, organised on Tuesday, was equally amused to know that even a dead buffalo needed post mortem report to fetch compensation to its owner. “What kind of joke is thisIJ Do we really need a post mortem report for compensationIJ Just give him compensation in a day, and be little sensitive,” ordered the CM to Dumka DC on a complaint of Anand Mallik from Shikaripara, Dumka.

The CM heard 20 complaints of the people from the State related to different departments and districts in the Seedhi Baat programme, in which three cases based on murky grounds were rejected then and there. He asked officials present in the meeting and district officials present through video conferencing system to be prompt and supportive while addressing the issues of villagers.

The CM also asked officials to take strict actions against husband of Mukhiyas, who used to be present in Gram Sabha meetings and try to overrule his Mukhiya wife. “Just throw such husbands out of the meeting. They are not only the ones who promote corrupt practices, but are also the ones standing between women and empowerment. lady Mukhiya is a symbol of women empowerment, and his husband must not overrule her at any meeting,” said the CM ordering to send a letter to all DCs related to this.

Another good news from this programme came to more than 200 people of Fatehpur/Jamjori/Belborad of Jamtara district, who had paid ` 850 each for solar light in December 2013 to their Block Nazir, but didn't get it yet. The CM ordered Jamtara DC to pay back the entire amount within 24 hours.

Pratap Kumar from lapung (Ranchi) also returned with contented face after the CM ordered to provide him compensation employment against death of his father on duty. This case was pending for more than two years. The CM also directed his Principal Secretary to get a meeting of every department arranged soon under the Chief Secretary to dispose of such cases on priority basis, so that these kinds of unnecessary delays could be avoided.

Starting the meeting, Principal Secretary to CM Sanjay Kumar said that disposal of complaints at district level was over 84 per cent. But satisfaction level of the complainants with the compliance was struggling at little over 72 per cent. "This is where everyone needs to work. We have to target 100 per cent satisfaction of the complainant with the remedy we provide to him," said Kumar.
