Chief Minister Raghubar Das, a day before the commencement of pious Shravan month, visited age-old Pahari Temple. Ensuring facilities and comforts for the pilgrims, the CM said that the district administration is on its toes to prevent untoward incidents. Also, he stated that brainstorming is being done to transform the deteriorating condition of the temple.

“Due to the civil construction task taken some time back for installation of the highest flag-post, parts of the temple have been severely damaged for which an elaborate plan is being drafted out by the team. After the end of pious month, in the first week of September onwards, the meeting will be conducted with the experts to draw a map catering to the requirement of this vulnerable area,” the CM added on Friday.

Several geologists have stated that the age old Pahari Temple, enlisted as one of the prominent tourist destinations of Jharkhand, is at a high risk of being destroyed in a landslide. Also, despite of the short term initiatives being taken up to somehow prevent this threat at Pahari Temple, the danger continues.

Small initiatives like conducting massive plantation drive and construction of boundary walls around the temple circumference have been suggested during a recent meet. Even, a team of geologists comprising experts from larsen & Toubro limited (l&T) had inspected the condition of Pahari Temple and had suggested quite a number ways to remove the existing glitches admitting that the civil construction has severely damaged the area near the flag-post, hence, can wreck the ecological balance.

A few minor steps have been taken to cover up the cracked areas and places were soil was exposed ahead of Shravan. Also, massive plantation drive is on the cards. Incomplete civil construction task, cracked staircases, incessant soil erosion etc have become a cause of concern for the city residents. Notably, every year, nearly 50,000 to 1 lakh devotees come to Pahari Temple during month long Shravan Mela.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Raghubar Das appealed to all the citizens to visit Deogarh in the pious month of Shravan. The CM will inaugurate the month long affair today in the presence of several eminent persons. Ensuring facilities at the temple, this year, an elaborate arrangement has been made on the temple premises.
