The otherwise toothless and defunct for last two years, Ranchi Regional Development Authority (RRDA), is finally expected to come out of internal issues and confront with its larger responsibilities after Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Monday asked the organisation to become professional and execute plans on grounds.
Das suggested Ranchi Regional Development Authority (RRDA) to appear professional as soon as possible so that it could stand on the expectations it was set up. The CM assured its officials of financial support for progressive projects in future and directed the Authority to speed up projects of public interests in rural areas of district on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
Das asked RRDA officials to provide improvised civic facilities like parks, road transportation, water supply and other amenities. He also suggested the Authority to acquire lands, develop them accordingly and allot to the local people for their possession and further operation which could not only open up new avenues of financial support to the beleaguered Authority in return, but would also help it regain its lost name.
“RRDA should be developed professionally to fulfill social responsibility. Transportation, drainage system and social amenities in rural areas of Ranchi should be considered and developed seriously. land should be acquired, social amenities developed and allotted to the people. Small parks should be developed in villages and handed over to the people to run them,” said Das where Urban Development Minister CP Singh, RRDA Chairman Parma Singh, Principal Secretary to the CM Sanjay Kumar, Urban Development Department Principal Secretary Arun Singh, Secretary to the CM Sunil Kumar Barnwal and RRDA officials were present.
The CM asked to install solar lights in the villages and advertisers should be charged as per the advertising rule. He suggested selection of agency to make travelers’ shed and to garner more revenue for cash starved authority by placing advertisements around them. Apart from construction of houses, parks at Sithiyo and Nachiyatu, master plan of 170 villages were also discussed.
Parama Singh said after the meeting that he put developments made during his tenure of little over a year and expressed utter readiness in taking the development works ahead provided that the organisation was backed by financial support. “The CM acknowledged our efforts of turning the organisation profitable during last financial year and assured of reasonable financial support in future. We require Rs 93 Crores for Amusement Park in Sithiyo and Rs 75 Crores for housing project which will have 5,000 flats. The CM has asked us to go ahead in PPP mode,” said Singh.
Remarkably, appointment of new members in RRDA also remained one of the important areas of discussion during review meeting on the day. “We have come to the conclusion that MlAs coming from RRDA area should be inducted as members other than one female representative from Scheduled Tribes community. We will be sending our proposal for new members to the CM on Tuesday itself,” said Singh.
