Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Wednesday met Krishna Dev Varma and assured all possible help to his family members under the provisions of law. Varma is currently under treatment at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi, after his eyes were gouged out by some unidentified persons in Faizabad on December 28. Das also directed the doctors to ensure speedy recovery of Varma.
The incident took place while Varma was returning to his home after pilgrimage to Ayodhya. Meanwhile, family members of Varma also requested Das to provide fourth grade employment for his wife in the State Government as he was the only working member in the family. Fiazabad police is yet to find clues in the case.
Bagodar MlA Nagendra Mahto, who also accompanied Das to RIMS, has demanded CBI enquiry into the case so that such incidents do not take place in future. “In order to get into the details of case, the case must be investigated by some independent agency like CBI so that facts behind the incident could be brought forward,” said Mahto.
According to Mahto, looking at the financial condition of the family, the CM has made some alternative arrangement in the private sector for the victim’s wife till the formalities for providing her Government job was completed. Compensation of Rs one lakh has also been announced by the State Government, said Mahto. Mahto also demanded the UP Government to get the case investigated thoroughly and ensure that such incidents do not get repeated again in any of the religious place. The Faizabad police on the other hand, is still clueless even after 10 days of the incident.
“Although, the case is under investigation but it is important to know where the victim stayed during his stay and what he did for so many days in Faizabad,” said Faizabad SSP KB Singh. Our investigation is very much dependent on his statement after he gets completely well as he was still not able to say anything clearly, added the SSP.
