Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Monday appeared before a court in connection with the alleged violation of model code of conduct during the 2009 Assembly election.

Das appeared before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Ajit Kumar Singh.

He was accused in the case registered with the Sakchi police station against the then BJP district committee president ChandraShekhar Mishra, a senior party functionary Ramfal Mishra and himself on the basis of an FIR lodged by an executive magistrate, E Kerketta on November 20, 2009.

During elections Das was the candidate from the Jamshedpur East Assembly constituency and had open his party office at the coal depot in Kashidih, Sakchi owned by Ramfal Mishra.  As the coal depot was close to a high school, the executive magistrate Kerketta had raided the BJP office on getting complaint from member of another party.

The Chief Minister appeared along with two others accused in the case because presence of all the three accused was necessary under Section 313 CrPC.

The Chief Minister's pleader N K Mishra said, " After the appearance of Chief Minister and two other accused, the court will now fix a date for hearing.  Once the hearing is over, the court will pronounce its judgement."

Das had come to the steel city by road from Ranchi late last night and appeared in the court of chief judicial magistrate at about 11.45 am today and came out of the court by 12.30 noon.
