Chief Minister Hemant Soren today appealed to people of Jharkhand struck outside the State to have patience as the Government is leaving no stone unturned to bring them back home.
Soren said that the State Government wants to assure the migrant Jharkhandis trapped in the lockdown that it will take some time but all will be brought back to their homes. “Everyone has kept patience in the disaster, be a little more patient. Government of Jharkhand is trying to operate more number of trains by talking to other State governments,” he said.
The CM said, “Several trains from Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab and other states are coming to Ranchi. The State Government is bringing back people in a planned manner. In this connection contact is being made with all people who are stranded. More than 5.5 lakh people have been registered through the Sahayata App made for the return of stranded people from different states. All the data has been given to the nodal officers and they are establishing connection with nodal officers of different states for the safe return of the people of Jharkhand.”
“The people can be brought back under the norms advised by the Government of India like social distancing and others. Those trains that have capacity of 5000 people are ferrying 1100-1200 passengers due to social distancing. That is why it is taking time. This process will continue. We have been getting news of thousands of people coming on foot, bicycles etc. Several accidents are also taking place. I appeal to people to stay where they are, Jharkhand government will surely bring them back. They should keep patience and faith,” he said.
The CM said that after the influx of people from outside some COVID cases have come out. “The government is taking all precautionary measures to safeguard the people of the State,” he said.
“Several people are stranded in Jharkhand also. The government is trying to send them back to their respective states. We will assess the situation at the right time about lockdown and take decision appropriately,” said the CM while talking to media persons here on Friday.
The Chief Minister also expressed grief over the Aurangabad railway accident. He said that the incident is disturbing. “May God grant peace to the souls of the departed. It is painful. The worst effect of corona and lockout has been on the poor, who are being forced to bear it day by day,” he said in a message.
