Classroom teaching resumed at various Government and private schools on Friday, after a gap of nearly one and half years. Based on the State Government’s directive, classes from VI onwards resumed from Friday. The school administration had made elaborate arrangements as per Covid-19 guidelines. On the first day, there was thin attendance of students at schools.

A teacher at DAV Kapil Dev requesting anonymity said as per State Government directive the classes from Class VI onwards were resumed while at the same time all Covid protocols were followed.

The schools in State reopened after nearly 1.5 years, as they were shut down in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The schools were reopened briefly but were shut down once again due to the second wave of the pandemic.

The teacher further said, “We have called only some students for offline classes. Also students have to get their parents’ consent for attending offline classes. Those students who could not turn up to schools there was an arrangement of online classes. For offline classes the timing was 8 am to 12 noon.”

The teacher added as school is reopening after a gap of one and half year their focus will be timely completion of syllabus. Special attention will be given on clearing doubts of students as in online teaching students don’t get a chance to clear their doubts.

Even students were excited about returning to school after a gap of nearly one and half years. Anand Raj, a student at DAV Hehal said, “We were excited to return to school after a gap of one and half years. There was different excitement meeting friends, teachers. For a student, school life has a different opportunity and importance. Meeting friends, teachers after a long gap makes us happy.”

At schools, seating arrangement of classrooms was changed to ensure social distancing among students. In a class there were sitting arrangements for only 30 students. All the students and staff members were asked to wear a mask at all times when they are on school premises.

Also students’ hands were sanitised before entering the schools. As per State Government directive the classes resumed for only four hours minus morning prayers and lunch recess.

The students were asked not to bring lunch boxes.

As per the State Government’s directive, all educational institutions will need to ensure proper sanitisation of classrooms and other areas, attendance in schools is not compulsory and teachers taking classes should have both doses of vaccines.
