Civil Court lawyers to resume virtual work from June 4

Published on:

Good news for Civil Court lawyers as after 64 days’ break the lawyers will be able to resume work once again in virtual mode from June 4.

The Ranchi District Bar Association around two month back with the increasing cases of Covid-19 decided to keep away from judicial work along with closing down old and new buildings of Ranchi District Bar Association.

The Jharkhand State Bar Council had also restrained all the Advocates across the State from undertaking any Court work, physical or online.

However, now with a drop in Covid cases and increase in recovery rate, the Ranchi District Bar Association has decided to once again resume judicial work.

The decision to this effect was taken at the virtual meeting of the Executive Committee of the District Bar Association on Sunday.

In the meeting, it was decided unanimously that all advocates will be able to work in the court through virtual mode from June 4 onwards. It was also decided that lawyers will not be able to use both the Bar Association buildings for a week.

After cleaning and sanitisation of the new and old bar building, the bar building will be opened on June 11 for the use of lawyers only. Also, from June 11, advocates will be able to participate in the hearing in all the courts of the executive. Advocates have been urged to follow Covid guidelines with discharging their court work.

During the executive committee meeting the RDBA office bearers urged the Additional Collector to start vaccination work.

The RDBA office-bearers said the district administration has decided to  start re-vaccination drive in two to three days at all 40 court buildings so that lawyers who have not received the doses avail the facilities.

The RDBA meeting was attended by chairman SP Agarwal, Vice Chairman BK Rai among others.

Meanwhile, lawyers have welcomed the decision of RDBA to start virtual courts once again. Vijay Kumar, a lawyer at Ranchi Civil Court said, “We are happy that RDBA has decided to restart judicial work once again. As lawyers have no fixed income/salary, advocates are suffering from financial crunch due to the closing of bar and bench.”

Advocate Vijay Kumar also said that apart from these lawyers should be given permission to use bar building once again keeping all safety Covid protocols.

Apart from financial distress, several lawyers from Ranchi district lost their lives battling corona infection in the past few months. Some of the lawyers who died in Corona in the second wave include senior advocate and octogenarian Banshi Prasad among others.
