City witnesses clash-like scene on MG Marg

Published on:

Tension ran high in the heart of the city at MG Marg on Wednesday as Hindu organisations took out a march on the occasion of 350th anniversary of Shivaji Maharaj’s coronation during Mughal Period in India. Amid communal disturbances at many places in the State, a march was organised from Jaipal Singh Stadium to Mahavir Mandir on MG Marg disrupting traffic in the State Capital for several hours.

Hundreds of people from two communities were face to face for over half an hour near Mahavir Mandir, putting district administration and police on their toes as members of several groups shouted slogans and chanted verses of Hanuman Chalisa.

However, heavy rain right on the time proved to be a boon for the district administration as it pacified people from both sides by getting violent. Proper security arrangements were made by the District Administration putting barricades on strategic locations to check crowd going haywire.

Sadar SDO Bhor Singh Yadav, City SP Aman Kumar, Traffic SP Sanjay Ranjan Singh and other police officials were camping near Mahavir Mandir to prevent any untoward incident to happen.

Whole stretch from Jaipal Singh Stadium to Mahavir Mandir was converted into fortress with jawans of JAP and RAF on alert position at every step. Forces were also deployed at the religious places all over the State Capital on Wednesday.

Senior Officials were guarding the procession from all sides so that they could not create ruckus on the road.

Meanwhile Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), questioning the intelligence agencies of the State Government, alleged that District Administration was not going into the root cause of the incidents taking place in and rural areas of the State Capital. Talking to the mediapersons on Wednesday in Ranchi, Purvanchal Dharma Punj Pramukh Virendra Vimal said that the real culprits should be arrested rather than arresting the villagers arbitrarily.

“Incidents of Badgain, Sukurhuttu and Hazaribagh are not sporadic rather they seem to be in a series and hence Police must try to find out the link and nab the real culprits,” said Vimal. Ranchi being a sensitive place where terrorist connections have also been found from Sithio, Bariatu and other places in the past, there might be such people behind the scene, he added.

“Why is such a failure in intelligence gatheringIJ It is not logical to beat the bushes after incidents occur in the State Capital,” said Vimal. Effigies of district administration will be burnt in all the blocks in rural Ranchi to warn the District Administration, he added.
