City wears bridal look, residents want it forever

Had the cleanliness survey of cities which took place a month ago been done now, the State capital would have fairly bagged one among the top ten positions for sure. I wish the city remains as maintained ever as it has been in the last two weeks,” said Jyoti Jha, a teacher, and a resident of Ranchi.

It is not just Jyoti Jha, Shweta, who works in a multinational organisation, Priyanka, who is a student of Ranchi College, and Krishna Kumar, who runs a shop at a market complex a few hundred meters ahead of Kokar Chowk towards Booti More, are among those thousands of residents, who started loving the beautiful face of the city.

The city has undergone a tremendous makeover with outer boundary walls from airport to Khelgaon via Kantatoli-Kokar Chowk and via Kara-

mtoli-Booti Mor been decorated with paintings. Construction of drains wherever required and covering up those defaced ones, silver-colour painting of electric poles along the roads with newly installed lED lights, putting up flower pots on dividers and cleaning the roads twice a day, all these have made the city beautiful as never before.

Ranchi Municipal Corpo-ration (RMC) had been given the responsibility to beautify the city, and it is apparent that the civic body has done a great job. Chief Minister Raghubar Das has already said that he will ask authorities to keep city maintained like this throughout the year.

The RMC has also laun-ched a unique competition among houses and commercial buildings falling on adjoining roads leading to Khelgaon. “We are getting good response of it, in which we asked residents to beautify the walls facing roads at their own cost. The best decorations during GIS days will be awarded,” said RMC Deputy Mayor Sanjeev Vijayvargeeya. The RMC also launched special drive to stop open urination, in which the corporation team has started imposing fine of 100 on violators. “We have installed some 40 modular urinals at different points in the city and it is going there to stay,” said Vijayvargeeya.
