The Passport Service Centre also known as ‘Passport Seva Kendra’ (PSK) which marked one year in Ranchi on Saturday, is trying to complete the passport verification in its administration within 21 days. As of now the verification is done within 31 days.
According to recent information, the department is helping in the working of ‘Online Police benchmark’ across the 24 districts of the State. Earlier, officials failed to manage this pre, post or no verification requirement for passport since the manual mode created communication gap among the district police and Ranchi passport office.
“In this online processing the file granting data details about a person who had applied for passport is sent to the concerned district SP wherein the details are downloaded and after the verification police mails us their enquiry done in this regard. We print this online form. We are trying to complete this work within 21 days instead of 31 days,” said Assistant Passport Officer SK Sinha.
After the establishment of this PSK, the appointment slots have increased to 9,500 from 6,000.The centre is also receiving twice number of applications every month since it has framed established office in the capital. Earlier, the applications were restricted to only 2700 which are now 5300 per month.
