Keeping up with the technical advancements in journalism, ‘Ranchi Today’, a new news portal, was launched on Saturday. This news portal was designed and presented by members of Wake up India Foundation (WUIF), an NGO native to the city.
JSCA President Amitabh Choudhary, the chief guest for the event, and several other dignitaries launched the website of ‘Ranchi Today’.
Following this, a brief description about the website was given by WUIF Founder President Suyash Verma. As explained by him, the website, focusing mostly on the younger generation, will cover day-to-day happenings, education, health, sports, business and local crime in and around the city.
Apart from these, sections like Campus Calling, Ranchi Speaks and others have also been included in the news portal. Also, a separate section has been dedicated to Swami Vivekanand.
“I appreciate the dedicated individuals due to whose efforts ‘Ranchi Today’ came to see the light of day. We cannot deny the context we live in today and innovations like this will help us to be aware of the truth. It is not necessary for the journalists who will contribute to this e-newspaper to follow the predefined norms and rules of journalism but they have the responsibility to galvanise the youth,” said Choudhary.
The guest of honour, Vivekanand Sharda Sati Samaroh National Coordinator Kishore Tokekar, said, “It is the appropriate time for initiatives like this, and like an alive entity, ‘Ranchi Today ‘has answered to that call. Due to some factors, youth of today has somewhat gone wayward, but not all is lost. Initiative like ‘Ranchi Today’ is the perfect symbol of this. This e-newspaper will surely grow.”
“This initiative has touched me deeply. I am expecting that ‘Ranchi Today’ presents good, quality news items. They should also sensitise the society about various things like administrative working. More and more people should join this initiative. And in case, they come across any hurdle or difficulty then there are many who will gladly guide them,” said Himanshu Mehta, senior advocate at High Court.
