City hawkers violate line rule

Published on:

Despite the rule issued by the Traffic SP, Rajiv Ranjan after making agreement, the hawkers still put up their selling articles beyond the marked line.

A Main Road hawker while expressing his reservation to this police activism said, “We find it difficult in putting up our stalls in front of the permanent shops as there is no cooperation of the shopkeepers behind us and it often creates a conflict. Apart from this, the space marked for us is not sufficient with so many vendors thronging in that small space.”

“It has been so many years we are placing our stalls here and we have seen that the new rules laid is followed only for a month or two and goes into oblivion, so it does not affect us much,” added the hawker.

A local bank employee, Reshma said, “In the recent scenario, police seems in an activated mood in pushing these hawkers within line, but after few days these incorrigible vendors will be again beyond the line and with a rare police reaction to it. Rules must be perennial and brought into effect for public to follow it like other states.”

Justifying the perspective of police in this regard, traffic SP, Rajiv Ranjan said, “ It is the matter of rivalry and lack of education among the hawkers at Main Road that they don’t understand the traffic difficulty arising due to their incorrigible behavior in putting up their stalls beyond the line .”
