City based sociologist devices App to solve disputes

Owning to the rising number of social disputes particularly at a time when everyone is house bound, Ranchi based sociologist Dr Ambrish Gautam (38) has developed an App called ‘Social Clinic- Get the door- it’s a social doctor’ to help solve family disputes and overcome emotional trauma.

The 7.7 Mb App available on Google PlayStore was launched on July 14 and in just a fortnight has received about 50 questions mostly from the youth who are confused about their career during the pandemic. The makers have roped in experts of both national and international acclaim to solve queries related to social problems, family issues, interpersonal issues and conflicts.

“The App is basically made for those who hesitate to share their problems with friends and family because of various reasons. The sociologists will give suggestions and solutions to the questions asked maintaining complete privacy. This platform will help in creating peace within the family and the society. Young adults aged between 18- 25 years are unable to handle small issues and share them, this will also give them a place to vent it out and seek guidance for mentors,” said Gautam.

The idea to make an App like this is inspired from a real life experience. “When on a visit to Patna, I saw a man running an ayurvedic shop on the highway.

On asking him about his customers in a deserted place, he said that the people who mostly visit do not wish to disclose their real identity but only want a solution to their problems. It was then that the idea of making an app on similar lines struck me,” added Gautam.

Born in Garwah, Gautam moved to Ranchi 20 years back. He completed his schooling from Shanti Nivas Vidyalaya, Garwah and is an MA and PhD in sociology from Ranchi University and has also qualified UGC, NET and JRF. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor Amity University, Ranchi.

His father Nityanand Dubey is a social worker while his mother Lalita Devi is a homemaker. A resident of Karamtoli, he stays here with his wife Kushboo Dubey who is a homemaker and children.
