The Centre for Indian Trade Unions (Citu) on Sunday called upon its members to hold protests against the Modi Government’s demonetisation, weak economic policy, privatisation of PSUs and increasing unemployment across the country.

Citu national president Dr K Hemalata said this at the concluding meeting of the reception committee of the 15th All India Conference held here. Citu State president lambodar Nayak presided over the meeting.

The two leaders thanked all functionaries for making the All India Conference a grant success. CPI (M) State secretary Ali Kishore Patnaik said the conference has inspired labour class people a lot to fight for their rights.

Citu national general secretary and Rajya Sabha member Tapan Sen slammed the Modi Government stating that the economy is getting weaker due to the Modi Government’s demonetisation move and privatization of PSUs. The workers need to be made aware of this for a mass agitation, he said.

Hundreds of leaders of industrial, mining and construction workers and bank, insurance, BSNl and State Government employee  attended the programme.

Among others, Citu treasurer Dushmant Das, vice-president Sibaji Patnaik, Jahangir Alli, secretary Satyananda Behera, Sridhar Mishra, Pramod Samal and Biman Maiti were present.
