CID to produce Sao in Hazaribagh court today

The noose has tightened around Barkagoan MlA Yogendra Sao as a Hazaribagh court on Tuesday rejected the medical report of the former Minister which was apparently used for evading sentence. Following the hearing on the report, the court directed the officials of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) to produce the disgraced MlA in the court and the CID is likely to honour the order by producing Sao in court on Wednesday. “He will be presented in court tomorrow (Wednesday),” said ADG-CID, SN Pradhan.

According to the sources, Sao will be taken from the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in the morning for Hazaribagh. He has been accused of floating an extremist organisation-Jharkhand Tiger Group-and running extortion activities with the help of the organisation. Sao, a former Congress MlA, was undergoing treatment at RIMS where he was admitted shortly after being brought back to Ranchi from Delhi. Sao is wanted in a case registered on September 1 at Giddi police station under section 25(1-B) A/26/35 of Arms Act.

Meanwhile, the JP Central Jail administration has completed the formalities to welcome the former Minister. He will be kept in the high security cell no. 7, also called “Anda Cell”.

The jailor of Hazaribagh central jail, CP Suman, said that when the former Minister comes to jail, he will be kept in the high security cell.

Suman said that Sao will be allotted the same room of the cell which was allotted to former Central Minister Yashwant Sinha, who had been arrested recently for manhandling a Government official. No extra facility will be given to him during the custody.

As per jail sources, to keep Yogendra Sao in cell no. 7 of high security zone, the jail administration has shifted Raju Sao, an ally of the ex-Minister, to cell no. 11 while Rajkumar Gupta, the supremo of Jharkhand Tiger Force, has been shifted to cell no. 9 situated outside the Anda Cell.

Earlier on Tuesday, CID investigating officer, Anuranjan Kispotta, produced the medical report of RIMS and transit order papers issued by Rohini court in Delhi in the courts of Additional Judicial Magistrate Rajesh Kumar. After going through the medical report given by the doctors of RIMS, the court ordered CID to produce the former Minister as the transit remand period expired on October 7. Sao was taken on remand on October 4 after he was arrested from Sukurpur in JJ Colony under Subhash Place PS in Delhi.

The court also observed that the medical report of Sao clearly indicates that his condition is not serious to delay the judicial process.

After hearing court's order ASP Anuranjan Kispotta rushed back to Ranchi. However, officials rued logistical problem in producing Sao in the court. Meanwhile, supporters of Sao thronged the court campus anticipating a verdict in favour of their leader.

legal experts were of the opinion that the three-day transit remand period is going to lapse on Tuesday and after the strict order of the ADJ court, the CID team will have to produce the ex-Minister before him by night.
