Arrested sister in law of Pannalal – Gayatri, allegedly involved in human trafficking case in Delhi will be reaching Ranchi by tomorrow, following which the police will try to find out her links with former Agriculture Minister Yogendra Sao. Sao was also arrested from the Delhi residence of Pannalal a few days back for his alleged links with rebel groups. Pannalal and his wife Sunita, however, gave police the slip a few days ago.

“let her reach here tomorrow, only after interrogating Gayatri Devi we can reach a conclusion regarding the minister’s link with Pannalal or his involvement in the human trafficking,” said ADG CID SN Pradhan. Intensive search for Pannalal has already been launched by the CID who is likely to be arrested soon, he added.

Gayatri, owner of a fake placement agency, also allegedly involved in human trafficking was arrested from her Shakurpur residence in northwest Delhi on Monday by a joint team of Delhi and Jharkhand police.

The CID has also put over 250 Delhi based agencies under scanner in order to reach out to the bottom of the racket of traffickers running illegally in the name of placement agencies. According to the police records, Pannalal has been running several sub-units to expand the business of human trafficking in Delhi.

“Meanwhile, we have prepared a list of around 250-260 agencies, some of which are fake while some are genuine, only after a meeting with the Delhi Police we can reach any conclusion and take further action,” said Pradhan. Action could be taken against the fake ones only after a thorough discussion with the Delhi Police, he added.

Originally from Torpa in Khunti, Gayatri’s name figures among the 240 most wanted human traffickers of Jharkhand listed by the police. She runs Gayatri Enterprises in Delhi, a non-registered placement agency that allegedly supplies maidservants and sales girls into domestic and sexual slavery, police said.

The State police had sent a five-member team along with Khunti anti-human trafficking unit to Delhi last week. Gayatri, during interrogation revealed that Pannalal has been hiding somewhere in Gumla.

According to the police, Gayatri used to pay Rs 12,000 for a girl and employing them for Rs 22,000, making a monthly profit of Rs 10,000 per head.
