A chowkidar under Chainpur police station, Sanjay Ram, has set up his own ‘family kitchen’ for the poor and the hungry at village Kolhuwa.

Sources said it was his second day of family kitchen on Sunday where he, his wife Soumaya Paswan and other villagers cooked khichree and fed 300 poor all drawn from the Bhuiyan community.

Sanjay Ram said, “Our family kitchen will feed the poor again on Monday April 27. I can afford three day community meal only. I am a low paid government servant but during this crisis everyone who has some money must feed the hungry.”

Sources said it was police inspector Chainpur circle R R Shahi who inspired and motivated his chowkidar Sanjay Ram to feed the poor for days that he can afford to.

Speaking to the Pioneer Shahi said, “I have no word to say that a chowkidar, the lowest rung in any police set up, has such a big heart. He and his wife and others prepare food for the poor and feed them with dignity.”

Shahi said, “This chowkidar and his wife along with four of their little children are the coronavirus warriors as they are fighting hunger in this time of national disaster.”

Shahi said this chowkidar’s sensitivity and sensibility should goad other affluent to take care of the poor living in their closest locality.

He said, “I hope and pray other chowkidars of our police stations Chainpur and Ramgarh also come forward to help the poor with one time meal.”

Chowkidar Sanjay Ram said, “My four little children are too excited to see their mother and others preparing so much of food for the poor.”

He said his beats are too big namely panchayats of Kolhuwa, Banjaree, Cherabaar, Talya, Bhabhandee, Gandhipur, Sonepurwa and more.
