Choudhary tries to win hearts in AJSU stronghold

IPS turned politician and JVM’s candidate for Ranchi parliamentary constituency Amitabh Choudhary on Tuesday campaigned in the stronghold of AJSU party.

The man who is credited for putting Ranchi on international cricket venue got the feel of people’s sentiments enroute to Rahe Block.Ramnavmi was certainly on the minds of Choudhary as the person who has made outlawed to bow in front of law paid obeisance to God at Hinnua Chowk on Tuesday morning. The man certainly needed the blessing as he was about step in the territory of Sudesh Mahto, another candidate for Ranchi and sitting MlA from Silli.

He visited Hotlo, Shataki, Jaradih Amajharia, Siridera, Purnadih and other areas of Rahe block. Choudhary took a long route to Rahe and halted for a moment at Jamudag to know if he is on the correct path to Rahe where he had to visit all panchayats and villages to win people’s heart to win Ranchi parliamentary seat.He urged the people of Jamudag to vote for him to help defeat corruption and end the malice spread in the system much like the way he cleansed the city and made it safe to roam about by taming notorious criminals that once ruled the roost in the capital.

Nonetheless, the people of Jamudag seemed more inclined towards someone who belonged to the area rather than someone with roots somewhere else. Disappointed about the absence of elected representatives in times of need people sitting in the varanda of an old temple were discussing candidates in the poll ring. The varanda which can also be called chunavi chupal characteristic of village was drowned in absolute pandemonium over the issue of who has done what for the area.

“We need people who vists the place and not someone who comes once in a while. He is a good candidate and we are happy to see him here. He is a challenge to the Sudesh Mahto,” said Subhash Chandra Mandal, a small eatery operator at Jamudag.

The cavalcade after a bumpy ride reached Rahe where Choudhary was greeted by Silli in-charge of JVM Amit Mahto and dozens of supporters of Jharkhand State Cricket Association president. Choudhary interacted briefly with the supporters and set out on motorcycle rally which looked ideal considering the narrow lanes and topsy-turvy topography to reach remote villages of the block. Occasionally, he stood up on motorcycle to wave at those who were standing at distance from the Rahe-Bundu road.

The motorcade made its first stop at Rahe Chowk to pay floral tribute to the statue of Subhash Chandra Bose and then proceeded to its next destination Kubadih village. Choudhary stopped for a minute to meet supporters and curious bystanders on either side of narrow lanes.

“In last 13 years since the State was created we have witnessed only widespread loot and scams. Few leaders have shamed Jharkhand so you have to decide what is right and wrong,” said Choudhary to villagers. The JVM man who is contesting against seasoned politicians slowly ventured into villages situated in the middle of the forest and paid tribute to the statue of Birsa Munda at Ramdera and met villagers sitting in the shade of banyan tree in the hot afternoon.
