Chiyanki air strip be given facelift: DGP

Published on:

DGP DK Pandey on Monday asked DC Palamu Ameet Kumar to develop the Chiyanki air strip.  He said the air strip is vital for the civil officials too and hence it needs immediate reliving from its sordid state of affair as unscrupulous people are encroaching the land of the air strip.

DGP reminding the DC said as IG operations he had suggested setting up a CRPF base camp near it which was resisted by lots of people who flooded us with sheaves of protest petitions.

Pandey wanted the start of night landing of chopper here at Chiyanki air strip for which he said not much is required as he further suggested 10 to 12 ultra violet lamps can suffice for light at night for any chopper to land and take off. DGP said the ultra violet lamps are pretty affordable.

DGP said the chopper’s landing/take off here would give extra mileage to the civil officials to reach the interiors of the district apart from what the chopper has been doing in anti naxal operations like evacuation of the injured. He wanted swift activation of this air strip.

DC Ameet Kumar apprising DGP said the civil aviation department has decided to raise a boundary wall around the air strip and also to lengthen its air strip.

The DGP was in the Koyal Bhavan in Daltonganj where joined by the DC. Pandey further asked the DC to locate and identify land for setting up of forward security posts at places especially touching Bihar as from Bihar there is the entry/exit of the naxals here and during this conversation DGP wanted to know about the availability of land at Mahudand for security post to which DC said 8 acres of government land have been identified there at Mahudand.

DGP laying stress for an integrated development suggested DC that block office with police station would mean smooth deliverance of administration. He asked his two SPs sitting there Indrajeet Mahatha ( Palamu) and Alok ( Garhwa) to ensure that by 2017 the police now housing in  others’ buildings just move in to their own buildings/premises as he said this Koyal Bhavan is of the irrigation department but here is the occupancy of the CRPF.

The DGP asked DC and SPs to see that girls/boys of the minority community show interest in joining police force as he said ‘On some occasions we find it difficult to put on duty police officer from minority community in times of communal disturbances as a part of confidence building measure in this community’.

The DGP inquired about mining activities going on in this Palamu to which DC said right now mining at Parwa is to take off while for others it will take some more time to which DGP said ‘With mining comes a trail of problems like bossism, bullying, extortion, heavy transportation, pollution, social evils and worse of all fight for supremacy  over the mines.

He asked the DC to take care of Kooh Kooh in Palamu where girls need higher education, cycle and lots of opportunities to be at par with the girls outside.
