New software for linking Public Distribution System (PDS) with Aadhar was developed by Chief Secretary RS Sharma. While making the software available to the department of Food & Civil Supplies (FCS), Sharma instructed handing over it to the agency preparing the software for value addition in it.
Interestingly, keeping in view the inordinate delay by the agency empanelled by the department of FCS the CS took the matter in his hand and developed the software. The CS had issued instructions for preparing software for PDS in his last meeting on the matter. Presenting a demonstration of the software Sharma said the software is easy to use and will help people in getting ration with ease besides ensuring identification of beneficiaries.
He instructed the concerned departments to give significance to the protection of portal so that the data can not be tampered with. CS instructed the concerned department to select competent people for the construction and maintenance of the portal. He also instructed the concerned department to conduct examination on behalf of the agency recruiting people for the portal.
Significantly, Sharma said portability should be implemented as soon as possible so that people can uplift ration from shops according to their convenience.
