Chief Secretary Rajiv Gauba has called for a meeting in connection with the long pending land issue of the 6 years old Nilamber Pitamber University in Daltonganj. The meeting is scheduled for May 20 and is to be held in Ranchi.
Deputy Commissioner of Palamu, K Srinivasan said the meeting will be headed by the State Chief Secretary and attended by Principal Secretaries of Water Resources, HRD, Revenue and land reforms departments, VC NPU AN Ojha among others.
Teachers, students and non teaching staff have pinned all hopes on this meeting as expectations have gone up since the NPU is languishing for land since the year of its inception 2009. It is run from a rented building of Palamu Zila Parishad. Sources said the Chancellor of the universities of State Dr Syed Ahmed in his April meeting had taken a serious note of NPU not getting an inch of land in all these years when the VC Ojha who was attending the meeting had in a tone firm but laced with helplessness had told the Chancellor that without his Excellency’s intervention in this matter nothing would budge an inch and the Chancellor did a big move talked to the Chief Minister Raghubar Das and asked the State administration to get this land matter settled.
Sources said the Chief Secretary’s meeting is being seen here in the back drop of the exercises made by the Raj Bhavan and the Chief minister’s Secretariat.
DC Palamu Srinivasan said the land in question measuring 41.05 acres has no forest angle at all besides, it is nearly free of encroachments. The chunk of land is also not far from the railway lines under CIC section of the ECR of Dhanbad railway division and the passage of railway lines there will further boost the NPU if it is established there. Water availability in the area is satisfactory besides power connection will not be any problem.
