Civic body is making all its effort to turn Chas into a slum-free urban centre. A detailed work plan is being ready. Informing about this Bhism Kumar, Municipal Commissioner Chas said, “We assume that by the end of 2022 it will become a slum free town.”
“We are on move, providing homes under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to the needy. We are also transferring fund for construction of toilets into the beneficiaries accounts,” said he adding that the town would be very soon to declared open defecation-free under the Nirmal Bahrat Abhiyan (NBA).
At least 8000 toilets were constructed this year under NBA in Bokaro district only, he said.
“Door-to-door garbage collection may soon become a reality in the city, the resident of Chas will soon get the facility of door-to-door garbage collection. The potable water problem will soon be eliminated shortly. Work for pipe line supply and deep borings are on war foot basis,” said Avinash Kumar Deputy Mayor Chas.
At least 7 lakh residents of Chas (Bokaro) are battling water crisis and are forced to buy water paying high prices beyond their imagination which are creating pinch holes in their pockets.
The new hotcake is water - that has already to be sold at `25 per gallon in Chas. Amidst all odds there are many who have found new trade of selling water to the needy residents who have got no options but to buy water at higher costs.
